Computer games don’t affect kids, I mean if Pac Man affected us as kids, we’d all be running around in darkened rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music.
I don’t have a very conscious creative process at all. Those books don’t happen because I think about them, they happen because I write them, and the genuinely creative parts emerge from the actual process of putting one word after another.
The bits that I enjoy, that surprise me, don’t come out of a process of cogitating and consciously trying to be visionary or imagining what the future would be like, they just emerge from this very analogue process of one word after another.
People are good and trustworthy and generally just concerned with getting through the day. If most people are good and their needs are simple, all you have to do to serve them well is build a minimal infrastructure allowing them to get together and work things out for themselves. Any additional features are almost certainly superfluous and could even be damaging.
